Dr. 菲普斯 comes to 分 to serve as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs after most recently serving as Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD. Dr. 菲普斯 is highly experienced in new program development, having recently spearheaded the development of a proposal for a new master’s program in counseling at Stevenson University. His experience with accreditation has included support of reaffirmation of accreditation of master’s counseling programs at institutions where he has served. Dr. 菲普斯 has also had great success in building community partnerships for internships and other experiential learning opportunities, particularly securing clinical placements for students. 在COVID-19大流行期间, he managed to increase the number of viable placements by 17%, with a 100% placement rate for students.

Before serving at Stevenson University, Dr. 菲普斯 held faculty positions as Associate Professor of Psychology, 咨询, and Behavioral Health at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD, where he also served as Department Chair. Before he arrived at Coppin State University, Dr. 菲普斯 served as Director of Clinical Training and Assistant Professor of 咨询 at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC. Before coming to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Dr. 菲普斯 served as Assistant Professor of 咨询 at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. 菲普斯’ research interests include intergenerational transmission of trauma, 移民的创伤, integration of spirituality and religion in counseling, 减少病耻感. He has authored various peer-reviewed articles and book chapters around these research areas, most recently authoring a book chapter entitled “I Got Your Back: Increasing Engagement for African American 学生 at College 咨询 Centers” (2023).

Dr. 菲普斯只得了B.A. in Mathematics and 历史 from Rice University in Houston, TX, an M.Div. from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA, and an M.S. Dr. 菲普斯 is also a Catholic priest, ordained for the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, MS. He has served as Pastor of several parishes in central and north Mississippi.
